It seems very early to be engrossed with the lessons during the first week of classes. It's not normal since nothing much 'should' always happen. However, to my not-so-damned dismay, my class entitled Global Studies already started with a pretty informative discussion on cultures' entanglements and current events that somehow made me once again reflective (though I'm always contemplative), at least for my part.
We came talking about the oil spill that happened at the Gulf of Mexico where my professor said 'it's really really heartbreaking to see it' so it was very intriguing since I never really paid attention on it when 'oil spill' became a trending topic in twitter. I was even more concerned with checking if Justin B was still on the trend. The oil spread was brought about by the explosion and fire in the Deepwater Horizon rig and since the burst, early efforts to control the spread have failed. Experts have said that the spill could grow much larger and affect other areas such as LA coast.
And so, I searched...and found these horrible photos...
soaked in thick oil
just too much oil
According to Obama, British Petroleum should pay each family/person for the damages especially their livelihood
but how are they gonna pay these poor little creatures? :(
Can their money really take everything back?
dead sea turtle :((
This is far the worst oil spill in the history. It beat the last large oil seapill in 1989.
"You're pumping out a massive amount of oil. There is no way to stop it," Later on it will reach the wildlife refuge around it.
God knows how many of them were killed. :(
Despite the obvious large scale damage that is now considered to become one of the worst environmental disasters, the company British Petroleum's report regarding the 'numbers'-how much oil is actually leaking out, how many marine species are affected, as well as the amount of damage in general was all flawed.
This disaster should be an eye-opener but I know this will ultimately be forgotten like all those previous ones. We never learn. We always take a step but never a step further. We always want more from the environment, maximizing all the profit we get from it and when something bad happens, we don't want to be accountable. This is the price we pay for continuously excavating nature for the money we make from it.

I'm Gixx. I started this blog two years ago when I tried to go about my insanity through documenting my musings in the night. I am now 21, graduate, again studying in law school, and I am still floating and fleeting from my existence and unconventional personality and way of living.
I maintain at least five websites but this is where I write about anything random. I read a lot of books. I love travel and I'm a sucker for zeal and wisdom.
I like to take risks. And that's where I learn. Then I write.
